Day 1 : Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes - Volubilis - Fes
Original Berber Tours invite you to travel around Morocco in culture tour from Casablanca. Enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of fabled Casablanca. Next it’s on to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, to visit the bustling Medina (old city) and the minaret of the Hassan Tower. Sightseeing will also include the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the striking and evocative Oudayas Kasbah, and the ramparts of the Mechouar surrounding the Royal Palace. Then we depart for Meknes, imperial capital at the end of the 17th century. We visit also remarkable Roman ruins of Volubilis, with its mosaics and temples. From there it’s on to Moulay Idriss, the cliff-high holy city of Islam. Finally, we arrive in Fes for check-in at your hotel / Riad.
Day 2 : Fes Guided Tour
Today you will enjoy day trip of Fes and we visit the old Medina of Fes; a particularly exciting experience because when you enter the sprawling labyrinthine alleys you feel like you have stepped back in time. Donkeys and mules are the only form of transport in these steep, narrow streets. Delicious scents come from the souk, where perfumes and spices are traded. Free program afternoon. Overnight in local riad.
Day 3 : Fes - Midelt - Rissani - Merzouga (camel ride & Overnight)
Today our Morocco journey continues towards Ifrane, through hills covered in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, home of a few Barbary apes. After lunch in Midelt, we will then head south to Erfoud and Rissani, a huge oasis containing over six million palm trees, edged by many ksours. Continuing along a striking route that marks the transition to desert, when we reach Merzouga we will be greeted with a glass of tea. We have time to relax, then we get ready to ride camels into the pink sands of Morocco’s highest dunes. We will have time to wander the dunes before sunset. Dinner is served, followed by traditional music and the night in a nomad tent.
Day 4 : Merzouga Dunes - Rissani - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges
We wake up early to watch the spectacle of sunrise, when the colour of the dunes combine with the play of shadows to make an awesome sight. After breakfast we ride the camels for a couple of hours before leaving for Tinghir and Todra Gorges for lunch. The road passes through Tinejdad and the Todra Valley. This stunning area affords plenty of opportunities to walk, such as along the river through the gardens or up the road on the other side of the gorge. Later, we will continue to the Dades Valley and the Dades Gorges before spending the night in a hotel.
Day 5 : Dades - Ait Ben Haddou - Tizi N'tichka - Marrakech
our Morocco tour from Casablanca continues and we enjoy wonderful views across the Dades Valley. We offer an optional 1-2 hour trek through the villages , passing fields cultivated by the Berber women, with the peaks of the High Atlas. We continue toward Ouarzazate, we visit Berber nomads in their caves and we travel through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its Rose Festival in May, and past the kasbahs of Skoura. We visit Ouarzazate and our route continues to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a World Heritage site and the backdrop to many Hollywood blockbusters. We explore also kasbah of Telouet is set right in the midst of the mountains, and was once the seat of the last Pasha of Marrakech, El Glaoui, from where the highest pass in Africa, Tizi n’Tichka, was controlled.
